Diamer Police conducted a successful raid in Chilas, recovering a significant cache of illegal weapons and arresting the suspect. The operation was led by ASP/SDPO City Muhammad Owais Elias PSP with Elite Police Station KKH acting on intelligence from Diamer Security Branch.
Acting on a tip-off, authorities targeted a shop near the Karakoram Highway where they seized:
– 23 five-shot guns
– 8 twelve-bore rifles
– 2 submachine guns (SMGs)
– 1 semi-automatic weapon
– 11 thirty-bore pistols
The shop owner, Shahab-ur-Rehman son of Wali-ur-Rehman, was arrested at the scene. Police revealed the weapons were being sold illegally under the pretense of repair services without any proper licenses, constituting a serious violation of law. Investigators suspect these arms may be connected to various criminal activities in the region.
The accused has been transferred to Police Station KKH while the confiscated weapons have been properly documented. Authorities confirmed the investigation is ongoing and legal proceedings will follow against the suspect.
District Police Officer Diamer Abdul Hameed PSP commended the police team for their successful operation, stating: “Illegal activities will not be tolerated under any circumstances and indiscriminate action will continue.”
Police have urged citizens to promptly report any suspicious activities to help maintain peace and security in the area.
